Water Treatment Operations

The Water Authority of Dickson County Water Treatment Operations consists of three water treatment plants (WTP) and hardworking employees that keep the system providing safe, clean drinking water to its customers. The Dickson Water Treatment Plant, Turnbull Water Treatment Plant, and Cumberland River Water Treatment Plant have a combined capacity of 11.6 mgd.

CUMBERLAND RIVER WATER TREATMENT FACILITY

The Cumberland River Water Treatment Plant was completed in 2003 as the first ultrafiltration membrane treatment facility in Tennessee. This plant consists of the following technology:

Pretreatment Tanks with Mixers
Membrane Tanks
Inline Static Mixers
Chemical Feed Systems Including Alum, Sodium Hypochlorite, Fluoride, and Powdered Activated Carbon
100 H.P. High Service Pumps
Clearwell
Two-compartment Residuals Clarification System
Polishing Pond
Control Room
Laboratory
The Cumberland River Plant has a capacity of 5 million gallons per day (mgd).

DICKSON AND TURNBULL WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES

The Dickson and Turnbull water treatment plants utilize these processes:

Coagulation
Flocculation
Sedimentation
Filtration
Disinfection
The Dickson Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 2.1 mgd. The Turnbull Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 4.5 mgd.
